Sam Wisneski
debuted with us as one of two "Introductions Artists" for 2007. Wisneski was born and raised in Wisconsin. While there, he started his art career with an emphasis on illustration and produced a number of winning posters that have become collector's items.
Wisneski sojourned to Florida where he graduated with distinction from the Ringling School of Art. Wisneski then migrated to New York City and obtained an M.F.A. from the New York Academy of Art. Subsequently, he studied with Jacob Collins at his atelier. Now, he is an instructor at the new Grand Central Academy of Art in Manhattan. In his work, he pays tribute to the classical artists who have gone before. His colors are rich and his compositions are classic with a contemporary edge. He presents epic sized works alongside intimate, more personal subjects. Never afraid to try his hand at the various genres, Wisneski impresses with his ability to paint with equal skill and grace still life, figurative, and landscape painting. "Interior" is a monumental achievement for a still life composition, as he carefully combines classical subjects with his dynamic use of light, shadow, and compositional tension. Plaster copies of the Pantheon's Elgin Marbles and the artist's supplies lay waiting on a small table, recalling the European painting ateliers of the 19th century. Prices for his work range from $1,350 to $26,500. |
