Jacob Collins(b. 1964) is a is a mid-career artist with who began showing with the John Pence Gallery in 1994. In addition to his San Francisco presence, he has exhibited at prestigious galleries in Manhattan, as well as galleries in Houston, Texas and Europe. His work has also been shown at the Arnot Art Museum, Elmira, New York; the Memorial Art Museum, Rochester, NY; the Union League in New York City; the Long Beach Museum of Art, Long Beach, CA and is included in the collections of the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University, Mead Art Museum at Amherst College and the Forbes Collection, among others. Jacob Collins is a leading figure in the contemporary revival of classical painting. He earned a BA in history from Columbia College, attended the New York Studio School, the New York Academy of Art, and the Art Students League. Collins is the founder of the Water Street Atelier, The Grand Central Academy of Art, and the Hudson River Fellowship. Jacob Collins paints with all the confidence and flair of a mature, established artist. His brushwork is confident and precise. Collins pursues the full spectrum of Realist genres; still life, figurative, interior scenes, landscapes. In each, his attention to detail is remarkable. The translucent quality of a flower's petal, the prickly texture of an avocado, and even foil-wrapped chocolates are depicted with panache in his still lifes. His figures are comprised of subtle.
